Decision Making

One of the hardest things to do is to choose the right answer from a given set of seemingly correct choices. All are correct. One needs to be selected, obviously with justification to support it, and possibly to rule out others. This is somewhat analogous to how humans make decisions. There is no such things as a WRONG path, the question usually is whether the path suits you or not.

Anyway, in the 22 years of my life I have taken ALL the important decisions of life myself. I do discuss issues with people to get a fair bit of idea but eventually I know that I will have to decide myself and stand by it later even if the decision may not have been the best one. This way you don't have to blame others for making your life miserable. And why should you? You were the one asking for help earlier.

So right now, I am once again faced with a toughie! And I have no friggin' idea what to do! There is this thing which is bothering me for about 5 days and I am completely occupied by the thoughts. I have two options and I am not sure which way to go.

Pulling hair, biting nails, eating chocolates, sleeping to avoid thinking hasn't helped at all. There are so many variables involved in this case, and factors which are not in my control.

How does one proceed in such cases? Just close your eyes, think for a while, and go with the gut feeling? What do you guys say?

  1. I think u should make a decission on contants rather than variables. There is always going to be What if that will force u to take other decissions. If u thing there are lot of variables then try to prioritise them and then say select top 3 and use them in ur decission. Don’t take all of them at once.

  2. you made all your important life decisions yourself?! Even what diaper you had to wear?!
Cause you know its an important decision. The wrong choice and you could get nappy rash!

Some things and decisions involve quantifiable elements. In such cases, think and act. Dont think too much though.

Other things are not quantifiable. They require a leap of faith. Take it. Imagine, 50 yrs later, you dont wanna be that guy who thing, what if id jumped?! Jump. And we’ll wave at you if you fall. Promise! :D

  3. If you elaborate on the problem you are facing, your readers are likely to be in a better position to suggest something sensible :P
Umm…I agree , there is hardly a wrong path, and to add to that, I’d say, no matter whatever path you choose, you will have to tackle the challenges you come across accordingly which would be different for the different possible paths…I’d suggest, try to be as objective as you possibly can, and once you make a choice, just focus there and don’t look back….:)

  4. @MAK: yup, the constant has made the difference in the end :)

@Farooqk: when my mom changed the diaper company from Pampers to Huggies, I registered my protest. i wasnt able to speak, but im told i did cry a lot and got Pampers back .. so yeah i did made the decision.. ab bol :P

@Ahmar: I know, lol…its sometimes hard to mention everything on public blogs…although that is the purpose of the blog but i still find it hard to open up at times

Thanks guys..I have made the decision…I didnt follow any of the options I had while posting..came up with an alternative :)
