Turkish PM Lashes Out At Israeli PM
Posted by anas on Jan 31, 2009 in Uncategorized | 6 commentsThis is an interesting event that, I believe, didn’t get a lot of media coverage. I have never seen a PM of any country being this blunt in front of his counterpart. Oh, and I also believe our dear puppet Gilani also participated in this event probably hiding somewhere in the corner.

I’m pretty proud of him for standing up against Israel and for Ahmadinejad’s guts against the bully that is the US.
And you haven’t seen any PM stand up against his counterpart like that? Perhaps you should see Z A Bhutto’s assault, “There go the Indian dogs” at the UN!
Oh yeah, I’ve seen ZA Bhutto
Yeah it is absolutely amazing that Erdogan showed (in real terms) that yes, he is a Muslim at heart, and he cares about the Gaza Strip! (most muslim leaders were either apathetic, or mumbly at best).
I so wish we had this kind of leadership. He got a hero’s welcome back (of course, by those who are his supporters). I’m proud of Turkey at moments like these
“standing up” to israel is a practice muslim leaders have long used to boost their own credibility – ZA Bhutto, Nasser, Mahathir are a few examples.
if erdogan felt so strongly about the bombing of civilian populations, perhaps he could have called off the ones his government carries out against the kurdish populace. perhaps he could break off ties with the US, which has one of its most strategic bases in turkey.
and oh yeah, the media has gone to town with this. we seem to believe that everything ‘just’ in the world is missed by the media, but trust me, they would never let go of sensational showmanship like this.

I do agree that leaders use such opportunities to enhance their image but atleast they made a point! Cutting off ties with US is not a solution to anything.
I loved this!
But its a pathethic state when we feel happy when someone just simply speaks out.
