Browsing With Firefox 3
Posted by anas on Jul 3, 2008 in Geek Speak | 8 commentsWhile I’ve been reading lots of pre-release goodies about this great browser, and following the post-release enthusiasm as well, I kept my opinions somewhat reserved. I’ve been an avid IE fan for most of my 10-years in cyberspace. I reluctantly switched Firefox 2 on a friend’s recommendation and found the tabs very convenient together with slight increase in speed. But the release of Internet Explorer 7 got me back to IE mainly because they had the tabs as well, and a nice interface to go with it.
I downloaded FF 3 on the D-day, and used it since then for maximum possible time. The remarkable change in browsing speed is only one of the small attractions in this version. The best thing for me is address bar, or the Awesome Bar. The advantages are revealed once you get to visit many websites and the adapts to your typing habits. Keying in the title of the page (or just a word, or letters of it), part of an address, or just a keyword from it invariably brings up the right result. I’m in love with it. The adaptability is just incredible. I’m sure, with time, the love will increase to a deeper extent as the Awesome Bar gets to know more of me and provide me with even better results.
I’m NEVER going back to IE again!

If you are a web developer or designer, you have to use both and possibly a few more browsers for your work. That’s because both browsers interpret code differently and you have to make the page cross-browser compatible.
Most WP themes, designed for either browser, poop in the other. IE is slow, but it’s display is better, i.e., it adds a few nice touches to the fonts and stuff.
I’m not a web developer by any means, but yeah ur rite abt the themes.
i agree with ali .. but still firefox is the best ..
FF beats IE on any day for sure. But the new FF is unstable on my PC at work which runs Windows Server 2003. It crashes every other day for some reason. But overall, its a worthy successor of FF2
i agree with all, but my emphasis is on the Awesome Bar! I’m sure IE will come up with something similar in the next version but being the pioneer here makes FF worth of all praise.
hmm…i think u are missing some thing else…what am i talking abt???? well i am talking abt the addons ability of firefox. Since it is kind of open source thing that is why new addons are made each day that help us in different ways.see if u can find some addons that may help u
Well just wanted to add one more thing here…u can create tabs in ff so ur favourite sites are virtually a click away (if u have an internet connection )
I still think Apple’s Safari is the best browser, and Internet Explorer can be 2 times faster than Firefox (If properly configured).
